Role · Product Designer, marketing site

Ainur is a research and engineering lab in the Netherlands, and this is its marketing site, live at ainurhq.cloud. The word marketing is worth being exact about. There is no product to demonstrate here, no application behind the page. The site is the surface where the lab presents itself and the work it does, and that is the whole brief. I designed it.
A scope like that changes what the design is for. With nothing to demo, the work is editorial rather than functional. It is about how the writing is set on the page, and how much room a single idea is given before the next one begins. Closer to laying out a publication than to building an interface.
The register follows from that. It is warm and quiet, an off-white page that reads closer to a considered publication than to software marketing. The intent is plain, that the lab’s work should read as carefully as the engineering behind it, so the page never raises its voice over what it is presenting.
There is no funnel to optimize and no conversion mechanic to tune, which removes the usual levers a marketing site is measured by. What is left is the typography and its vertical rhythm, held with the restraint to leave everything else alone, which is most of what a publication surface actually is. It is in production, and it is the one piece in this portfolio that is also my own published design.
